About Penny

I am primarily a Ligation Lawyer commencing my career in the Moree Local Court nearly 30 years ago.

As a Lawyer working in the Local Court Criminal and Civil Jurisdictions provided me and provides all Lawyers with the best experience to learn the Rules of Evidence and the Rules of the Court.

I now specialise in the Civil Jurisdiction, particularly Personal Injury Law. I have been an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law since the year 2000.

In 1994, I moved away from Moree to become one of three Partners at the firm Abbott Pardy and Jenkins.  My two partners and I expanded our firm to have offices in Glen Innes, Inverell, Guyra and Armidale making it a very successful regional law practice. In 1996, I left the Glen Innes office and started to work in our new office in Armidale. I saw clients throughout the New England Area reaching out as far north as Queensland, as far south as Finlay, Berrigan and Albury and west to Lightening Ridge, Moree and Narrabri.  As we expanded, I became the Litigation Specialist of the practice which included matters in Personal Injury, Medical Negligence, Motor Vehicle Accidents and Workers Compensation.

In 2008, I decided to open my own practice as Penny Waters Armstrong Legal (PWAL). I am the Principal Solicitor at PWAL at 95 Faulkner Street Armidale NSW 2350. I am assisted in my practice with an Office Manager, Bookkeeper, Paralegal and Legal Clerk.

Over many years I have represented many clients in each of the Local Court, District Court and Supreme Courts in NSW.  Currently, the work I do primarily involves the District Court and Supreme Courts. I have had many great outcomes in the Supreme Court with one particular case with Senior and Junior Counsel in the Supreme Court which ran for 3 weeks with a Civil Jury. The larger and most successful matters I have run have been for Medical Negligence and Common Law in the Supreme Court.

Not all matters are heard in the Courts nowadays. Many matters such as Residential and Commercial Tenancy Disputes, Human Rights Issues, Discrimination Issues, Industrial Disputes such as Unfair Dismissal Claims, most Motor Vehicle Accident and Workers Compensation matters are dealt with by Tribunals and Commissions.
